ASI gains 23bps

The local bourse maintained its bullish streak, as the ASI gained 0.23% to close at 97,972.33 points. Market capitalisation expanded by N136.38 billion to settle at N59.37 trillion. This positive outturn was primarily driven by demand for WAPCO (+10.00%), MTNN (+1.18%), ZENITHBANK (+1.15%), and UNILEVER (+10.00%), which offset sell pressures in TRANSCORP (-1.71%), FBNH (-2.01%) and BUACEMENT (-0.52%). Market sentiment remained positive, with market breadth at 1.08x, as 26 gainers outpaced 24 laggards. Leading the gainers was WAPCO (+10.00%), while PZ (-9.82%) led the laggards.

Market activity diverged, with volume traded declining by 19.21% and value traded increasing by 20.33%, to settle at 333.95 million and N6.42 billion, respectively. ACCESSCORP dominated the volume and value charts, as 37.84 million units traded (11.33% of total volume) worth N910.19 million (14.17% of total value) exchanged hands.

Bullish Sectoral Performance

All five indices closed positive at today's session. Taking the lead was the Insurance (+1.90%) index, followed by the Industrial Goods (+0.55%), Oil and Gas (+0.35%), Consumer Goods (+0.25%) and Banking (+0.25%) indices. This performance was driven by buying interests in MANSARD (+5.16%), WAPCO (+10.00%), JAPAULGOLD (+9.30%), UNILEVER (+10.00%) and ZENITHBANK (+1.15%), respectively. 

Bonds

It was a quiet day in the FGN secondary bond market, with average yields closing flat at 19.44%.

Money market

Interbank rates"”OPR and O/N"” diverged, with OPR declining by 11bps to settle at 25.07%, while O/N increased by 10bps, settling at 25.79%.
